1. What is the Chevening Scholarship all about?
Chevening is a British Scholarship Program amongst the most prestigious worldwide offering full coverage for Master’s degree and fellowship studies in the United Kingdom. Chevening is funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) to support talented individuals that have excelled in their fields with great determination and leadership to help create a better future. Those awarded this one-year scholarship will boost their skills, broaden their network, and be equipped with invaluable knowledge to apply later in their careers. Not to mention all the intangibles they will take away from experiences interacting with the UK culture while absorbing their mindset and best practices from the inside.
2. Eligibility Criteria. Are you Chevening material?
Chevening eligibility criteria although it is not a fixed formula and every individual is analyzed in her/his uniqueness, it has amongst their successful applicants, people with great influence in their communities able to make a positive impact. Ineligible applicants will be automatically rejected; hence you must know if you are eligible before going through the hassle in vain.
Requirements to Apply
-Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (there are 160!)
-Have an undergraduate degree completed in upper second class (2:1)
-Minimum of two years of work experience (2,800 hours)
Requirements for Selection
- Apply for three eligible UK university courses and have at least one unconditional offer (acceptance of admission letter) by mid-July of the year of the course’s beginning. Each year Chevening specifies the deadlines.
- It’s the applicant’s responsibility to apply and meet the selection criteria of their universities. This includes specific English-level, uploading previous degrees, etc.
- Achieving this phase successfully does not guarantee your award, but not meeting this deadline will automatically make you ineligible to move forward.
